Young Lord Mayor
My First Two Events as Young Lord Mayor
I thoroughly enjoyed my first event as Young Lord Mayor as it perfectly portrayed the amazing diversity of Liverpool. The first event in the morning was a civic service which was where I first met the Right Worshipful Lord Mayor Christine Banks and the Lady Mayoress Jenny. The service included two songs sung by a choir from Holy Cross Primary School based on ‘Unity and Peace’. The Bishop of Liverpool, Reverend Paul Bayes addressed in the service and spoke to us about the honour of civic duty and the importance of community. There were also many representatives of the Jewish community including Michelle Hayward who is a governor of King David High School. After this, we went back to the Town Hall for afternoon tea and the Lord Mayor also made a speech about what she promises to do during her term as Lord Mayor. The second event of the day was the Joseph Lappin festival which showed perfectly how brilliant the people of Liverpool are able to come together after a heart breaking tragedy. Just out of my first two events I feel like I have already grown as a person and have become more confident because of this amazing opportunity and I can't wait for further events.
