Year 10 and 11 Enrichment
My Former Life
Year 10 and 11 pupils recently took part in a day long workshop, delivered by The Foundation for Peace, during which time students looked at the serious implications that actions of extremism and terrorism have on both victims and perpetrators lives. All pupils actively engaged in role play activities to help them understand and respect all aspects of what ultimately leads people into an extremist way of life. After watching what students described as, "Powerful video evidence" of individuals who have since turned away from a life of terrorist activities, the pupils were able to feel they were better placed to understand the world we live in and are now more willing to assist in reducing potential barriers within communities that may lead to social segregation. The day was such a success, King David pupils have been invited to take part in a conference for students, looking at why the young people of today should be involved in peace.
